  • Catalog explorer #

The catalog explorer gives you a way to browse through the metadata of a catalog and to drill down to analyze schemas, tables, views, materialized views, and columns within that catalog. You can see which schemas and tables exist, and see what columns and data they contain. This helps you create queries using the information you discover.

Access the catalog explorer with two steps:

    • Click Catalogs in the navigation menu.

    • From the list of catalogs, click a catalog name to open the catalog explorer for that catalog.

    Catalog explorer pane #

Use the catalog explorer pane on the left to explore the schemas, tables, and columns of the current catalog. This is similar to the cluster explorer feature of the query editor, but here restricted to the currently selected cluster.

Use the close icon to collapse the catalog explorer; click the expander icon to re-open it. The catalog explorer remains in its last position on restart.

    catalog explorer pane

The catalog explorer pane shows an expandable, hierarchical view with the following symbols:

catalogs logo for this catalog’s data source
    schemas
    tables
    views
    columns

To expand an element, click its Expander icon. To collapse an element, click its Collapse icon.

Click a catalog’s name to collapse all schemas under it. Similarly, click a schema to collapse all tables and views under it, and click a table or view to collapse its column list.

    Catalog level #

The catalog level contains a number of tabs that lead to information about the currently selected catalog:
