NetApp object storage support

NetApp AFX, AFF A-Series, AFF C-Series, and FAS are high performance object storage systems that use ONTAP software for the S3 interface and are compatible with Amazon S3 and any catalog using one of the following connectors:

• Delta Lake connector

• Hive connector

• Iceberg connector

NetApp StorageGRID is also supported as an S3-compatible object storage system for use with the same connectors.

Requirements

The requirements of the connector apply when using NetApp object storage as a storage backend. This specifically includes the configured metastore and the network access between the cluster and the storage.

Configuration

NetApp ONTAP-based systems and StorageGRID are fully compatible with Amazon S3 and as a result all related configuration information applies. In addition, you must ensure that path style access is enabled in your catalog properties file:
