Datadog #

You can integrate Starburst Galaxy with Datadog to export cluster metrics to Datadog through OpenTelemetry.

After you configure the Datadog integration for Galaxy, Galaxy automatically exports metrics to Datadog from the Galaxy account that you used to configure the integration. From Datadog, you can explore the metrics, create dashboards for monitoring and visualization, create alerts to monitor cluster and data health, and more.

The Datadog integration exports metrics for the entire Galaxy account, not only a particular cluster. The exported cluster metrics include metrics detailing the query state, query performance, node information, and memory allocation.

Prerequisites #

  • The user configuring the Datadog integration must have a role with the Manage security privilege.
  • You must know the Datadog site that hosts your organization and have a Datadog API key.

Connect to Datadog #

  1. In the Galaxy navigation menu, click Partner connect > Observability.
  2. Click the Datadog tile.
  3. Select the Datadog site used by your organization in the Datadog site menu.
  4. Enter your Datadog API key.
  5. Click Validate. Galaxy verifies that the API key is valid and the selected Datadog site is accessible.
  6. When validation succeeds, click Connect. Metrics will begin to appear in your Datadog account within minutes.
