    Install ODBC V3 for Windows #

    The Starburst ODBC driver V3 series is described in the following pages:

    This page provides instructions for installing the Starburst ODBC driver V3 series on the following operating systems:

    For all supported operating systems, the Starburst ODBC V3 driver supports connecting to Starburst Galaxy and to the four most recent LTS releases of Starburst Enterprise.

    Windows installation #

    Requirements #

    Before you install the driver, make sure you have the following requirements:

    • Administrator rights on the target machine
    • One of the following Windows operating systems:
      • Windows 11 or 10
      • Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, or 2016
    • 75 MB of available disk space

    Download the driver #

    Download the driver version for your application’s bitness:

    See the release notes for v3.2.3.280.

    Install the driver #

    1. Double-click the MSI file.
    2. Click Next.
    3. Read the License Agreement, select the check box to accept the terms.
    4. To change the installation location:
      • Click Change.
      • Browse to your desired folder.
      • Click OK.
    5. Click Next.
    6. When the installation completes, click Finish.

    Verify the installation #

    To verify the driver version:

    1. From the Start menu, select ODBC Data Sources.
    2. Select the ODBC Data Source Administrator that has the same bitness as your client application.
    3. Click the Drivers tab.
    4. In the list of ODBC drivers, find the Starburst ODBC driver.
    5. In the Version column, verify the version number.

    Uninstall the driver #

    To uninstall the Starburst ODBC driver, use the Windows Add or remove programs feature.

    Troubleshooting #

    In you encounter issues during your installation:

    • Verify your configuration meets all requirements.
    • Check the Windows Event Viewer for error messages.
    • Contact Starburst Support.

    Driver versions #

    Some client applications may require specific versions of the ODBC driver. Review your client application’s documentation for compatibility requirements.
