This section of the Starburst Galaxy documentation closely follows the structure of the navigation menu within Galaxy itself.

Query

This group describes the query editor, how to save and share queries, how to look through the query history, and how to understand the detailed information stored about each query. This group also provides an overview of connecting third-party client software to Starburst Galaxy.

Catalogs

This group describes how to connect each supported data source to Galaxy.

Catalog explorer

This group does not have a corresponding navigation menu in Galaxy. To enter the explorer for any catalog, click its name in the catalog list. This lets you drill down to discover data, metadata, and usage statistics for the selected catalog’s schemas, tables, views, and columns.

Data products

This group describes how to use the collection of curated, high-quality datasets and their relevant metadata.

Clusters

This group describes the features of clusters, which are collections of catalogs for data sources usually from the same cloud vendor and region.

Admin

This group describes audit, cluster configuration, and billing features of account management. Admin is only visible in the Galaxy navigation menu for the accountadmin role or its privilege equivalents.

Access control

The group describes the management of user names, service accounts, tags, and other aspects of Galaxy account management. The Roles and privileges menu is visible to all users, but the other menu items under Access control are only visible in the Galaxy navigation menu for the accountadmin role or its privilege equivalents.

Cloud settings

This group describes settings you must make in the consoles of cloud vendors to allow Starburst Galaxy to connect in various ways. Cloud settings is only visible in the Galaxy navigation menu for the accountadmin role or its privilege equivalents.
